VPN is an acronym for ‘Virtual Private Network’, historically used by private organizations to link geographically diverse locations seamlessly via the internet. A VPN ‘tunnels’ traffic between two devices by transmitting it over the public internet. VPN Wall takes this one step further by giving you the option to encrypt all the data you send and receive, and additionally allows you to appear to be located many miles (or in a different country) from where you really are!

All of our servers are high speed, but the actual transfer rates you get will depend on a number of factors. Most important is the speed at which your ISP communicates with the country in which the VPN server is located. To get an estimate of the speeds you should expect visit our VPN Speed Test page. If you want to make sure your ISP is capable of high speed transfer to the country you desire, you can visit Speedtest.net and drag the world map to select a test server in that country.

All of our servers are encrypted by default (except ‘gaming’ servers, see below). When connecting via our VPN the session is encrypted with 128-bit CBC-Blowfish. Alternatively, PPTP and L2TP use MPPE and IPSec encryptions, so in all cases your session is secure. We can also offer both encrypted and non-encrypted custom VPN profiles on a per request basis.

No! Honestly, we have no interest in which web sites you visit. It doesn’t affect our business and so, as long as it’s legal, feel free to visit wherever you like. We only log connection times and data usage totals, and they are only stored for a limited time. Please consult our Terms of Service for more details.

To check that your IP address has indeed changed, visit our What Is My IP Address page and make sure it shows you visiting from the location of the VPN server you connected to, not your actual location.

All our servers support OpenVPN. Most of our servers also accept L2TP and PPTP connections, and we even have several servers which support Microsoft’s latest SSL based VPN offering, SSTP! Access to ALL these servers is included in the standard subscription.

Our and simple to use connection software runs on both Windows and OSX. Access from iPhones and Android devices is supported via PPTP and L2TP. Have a look at our Setup Page for details.

It is, but the process will not be straightforward. You have two options. The first is to get a router that you can flash DD-WRT on (or get a DrayTek router with built in PPTP VPN support) and run the client VPN connection from your router. Then every device connected to the router will tunnel through the VPN. The second option requires a PC with two network cards. You can use Windows Internet Connection Sharing or OSX Internet Sharing features in order to gain access to the VPN on the device using the PC as a middleman. The PC will need to be on and connected to the VPN in order for the other device to have network connectivity.

Safemode servers are actually the same physical machines as the other servers, but they listen on port 443 which is normally used for secure web sites (https). The reason they exist is that some ISPs block access to normal VPN ports but they allow access to port 443 to allow their customers to browse secure web sites. They are most commonly used by people in the UAE, and you do not need to concern yourself with them if your connection is fine without them.

These are a hidden gem, and one of our most unique and highly valued services. Often you’ll find that your ISP’s international routing is of a very poor quality. The “A to B” connections are special internally-routed servers designed to help boost performance between specific countries. As an example, we have setup a server in Australia to route to another server we control in the UK in a specific fashion. You would use this connection if you are located in Australia and wanted to VPN into the UK. It should outperform UK1 etc in this scenario.

Gaming connections have encryption DISABLED. In theory, this very slightly improves your ping for gaming purposes. By default, all of the non-gaming connections have encryption turned on. This is the main difference between the servers ‘UK Gaming’ and UK1′, for example.

We allow multiple connections, but only from one site. For example, it is ok for you to connect one computer in your home to the Irish VPN server and a different computer at home to a US VPN server, or even both to the same VPN server. It is also ok for someone else in your home or a friend visiting to connect to our VPNs at the same time. We do not allow account sharing across multiple sites however. So if you were using your VPN at home and your friend logged in to one of our servers from their house then you would be breaching our terms.

The best way to deal with a failing PayPal subscription is to cancel and recreate it. First cancel your old subscription by clicking this link to PayPal, and selecting the Details page on the VPN Wall subscription. Next, login to your Subscriptions Page and the payment options will now appear. Choose PayPal and you will be able to re-subscribe.
